An overview of international mountain biking events.

UCI Mountain Bike World Cup.

The UCI Mountain Bike World Cup is a multi-round mountain bike racing series that is sanctioned by the Union Cycliste Internationale. The first World Cup series – which was composed of cross-country events – was held in 1991. The Downhill World Cup was inaugurated two years later, and the Dual Slalom World Cup was launched in 1998. The dual-slalom format – which involved knock-out heats with two riders on the parallel courses in each heat – evolved into four-cross (with four riders on a single course per heat) in 2002 before being dropped after the 2011 season. Riders win points according to their placing in each event. The reigning series leaders in each class are identified by a special jersey.

Trials World Championships.

The most important event of the year for mountain riders, will be held after the Mountain Bike Wold Cup, around August or September. The history of the Trials World Championships is a year earlier than that of Mountain Bike World Cup, and the first competition was held in durango, USA.

Mountain Bike Olympic.

The mountain bike event entered the Olympic games later than the road bike, became a formal event at the 1996 atlanta Olympics, and only XCO (Olympic Cross-Country) did. However, the mountain bike race from the beginning to enter the Olympic games is only a short time of more than a decade, it can be seen that the rapid development.

Cape Epic.

Cape Epic is held in Cape town, South Africa, in March of each year. The event was rated by UCI as HC level, in the same category as the road cycling tours: tour de France, Vuelta a Espana, Giro d' Italia. The Cape Epic competition is divided in to professional and amateur groups, competing with each other but timing them separately.

Enduro World Series.

The EWS started in October, 2012, the world's best resource, provide the best track, the best race, the most relaxed atmosphere and the most race-centered organization for the contestants.

Sea Otter Classic.

The Sea Otter Classic is a bicycling and outdoor sports festival and exposition held each spring since 1991 at the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, California. The four-day event is considered the world's largest cycling festival, drawing nearly 10,000 professional and amateur athletes and 70,000 fans. The Sea Otter Classic is named in honor of the southern sea otter, an indigenous mammal which flourishes along the neighboring Pacific coast.

Crankworx.

"Crankworx" is a four-stop tour of slopestyle mountain biking events, the premier event of which is held each summer at Whistler-Blackcomb in Whistler, British Columbia at Whistler Mountain Bike Park. The event focuses specifically on high-injury-risk downhill mountain biking, Freeride, stunt jumps, and other extreme variants thereof. It is important to note that these are markedly different from cross-country touring-style cycling. Since its inception in 2004, Crankworx has become one of Whistler's largest annual promotionals.

Red Bull Rampage.

The Red Bull Rampage is an invitation-only freeride mountain bike competition, it's a step forward game in the regular downhill race, which is more exciting, more ornamental and more flexible than the regular downhill race. The contestants not many, but must be very professional, around 20 racer per year only, they are "free riding" top players from all over the world.
