Early detection and treatment can greatly reduce the risk of damage to the wheel.
Master level adjustment requires more equipment, but we can get a rough understanding of some methods and principles of adjusting the rim, do simple debugging to meet the usual use.
The wheel set is mainly composed of three parts: hub, spoke and rim. The spokes play a very important position. The relatively balanced tension can evenly distribute the impact of the wheel set. The wheel set can accept various reasonable grounds. However, if the spoke tension is not uniform, some spokes will be subjected to more impact. When the impact force is greater than the pressure of the force-bearing spokes, the wheel set will be damaged. So the goal of our wheel / rim adjustment is to have a reasonable average tension for all spokes to maintain the balance of the wheel's forces.
Generally, the riders will encounter two kinds of situations, one is that the rim has left and right yaw, and the other is that the rim is out of round and jumps up and down.
The first thing to do is to confirm the tension of all the spokes. This is very important, better than indiscriminate adjustment. Most people can feel the tension gap between the spokes. Which one is looser and tighter, the riders can mark them with their favorite methods. Then observe the yaw yaw or up and down, and know where the jump or yaw is too large, and proceed to adjust that position.
The tightness of the spokes, it is a good thing to tighten the spokes theoretically, but it is still not recommended to use excessive tension. It is recommended to loosen the tight spokes to adjust the spoke yaw and find that the spokes are too large. When the tension is different, the tension between the two spokes that cross each other should be actively corrected, and the equal tension should be corrected as much as possible. Adjust the up and down beating situation to pay attention to observe the part of the rim beating, and then adjust according to the range of spokes that can be controlled by the beating part. If there is a protruding part, the four spokes of the corresponding part should be adjusted at the same time. The basis of the difference between the spokes. If there is a concave part, it is reasonable to control the four spokes in the corresponding part of the rim to loosen it. Everything we do is for each spoke of the wheel to be evenly stressed.
After the adjustment, don't forget to squeeze all the spokes to release the virtual position and stress, and then check if the rim has yaw. If there is, continue to adjust. If there is no yaw, it is recommended to add a little spoke tension on a reasonable interval.
